Enjoy!

So the Dance Team Show went fantastic and I wanted to share the piece that I was in with everyone but I couldn't upload the video for some reason....so I figured I would share my Dance Composition midterm piece. I had talked about this assignment in a previous blog...our assignment was to create a piece that developed. We were also advised to use choreographic tools such as use of space, repetition, tempo, etc. Enjoy!

Dance Team Show

So this Friday, March 27th is our annual Dance Team Show. This show is sponsored by our Dean College Dance Team (obviously) and is a student choreographed show. All of the pieces were auditioned to get in and, like all of our shows at Dean, there is a great variety of styles represented.
I am in a contemporary piece with four other girls and I'm so excited to perform again this year. The piece I am in was choreographed by one of my best friends, Sharlane. This is her first piece she has choreographed for a show here at Dean and it got in and it is beautiful, HOORAY!
I encourage any prospective students, but especially dance majors, to attend a show. It is a great way to get an idea of what our school has to offer and it's always a great time!

AHHHHH!!!!

So it kind of just set in today that I only have five weeks left at Dean. As of Graduation on May 9th, I will be moving to NYC to start my life. I was accepted into the Alvin Ailey Independent Study Program at the Ailey School in Manhattan and will be studying there for three semesters (Fall-Spring-Summer). AHHHHHH!!!!

I am getting an apartment with my best friend, Sharlane, who also got accepted into the program and will be graduating with me as well. So, needless to say, I am busy trying to finish up my semester as well as find a place to live and find a job and make some money and everything else that goes with a HUGE life change.

My biggest lesson this semester has been to just trust that everything will work out. I always have to have a plan, but Dean has prepared me for what's next and I am ready to jump into it, I just need to trust that everything will be ok.
